Here we go! You can see the new addition to the Fleysen family at Designblok, which is just getting started. This is a real, unadulterated library, the first ever in our portfolio. The new product was designed by Vrtiška & Žák, winners of the Grand Designer 2021 award.
The new library is available in several sizes.
An authentic piece of furniture
Designers Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák approached the design with a clear intention - to create a full-fledged bookcase that would provide the necessary strength and function, not compete with existing shelves, and at the same time carry the recognizable Fleysen aesthetic. They used thin metal for the dividers and shelves, which is typical of Fleysen, and opted for laminated boards or wood veneer instead of metal.
It even holds Proust
The bookcase is wider than all-metal shelving, and the shelves alone can support a heavier load. This is due to both the laminate material and the metal L-shapeddividers. A single shelf can hold up to 50 kg, so you can easily stack all of Stephen King's works, including the five-language version of Lost City, in the bookcase.
Thanks to the L-shaped metaldividers, you can lean the books on multiple sides.
As always, the choice is yours
The bookcase has between two and seven shelves, and of course our favorite colorful playfulness remains. You can choose from 8 different metal finishes and the shelves are available in white, grey and oak veneer.
About the designers
Roman Vrtiška (*1982) and Vladimír Žák (*1980) began their collaboration while studying together at UMPRUM (then VŠUP) in Prague. Today they are among the most sought-after designers and multiple winners of Czech and international awards (Designblok, Czech Grand Design, Red Dot and others). They mainly work on projects in the field of architecture, interiors and product design. Since 2016, they have been running the furniture and interior design studio (D2) at UMPRUM in Prague.
